2018 Conference Schedule

This day-long conference will explore Diversity & Inclusion through the theme “Diversity & Inclusion: #TheNextGeneration.”. There will be a panel discussion, workshops, and a keynote address at lunch.

EVMS Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, Mekbib Gemeda, will be the luncheon keynote speaker.

Workshops will be facilitated by local subject matter experts, inclusion and diversity change agents, aspiring business leaders, community leaders, and EEO and diversity officers and will focus on sexual harassment in the workplace, social media and the millennial generation, income equality, strategies for inclusive hiring and recruiting, disability accommodations and mor

Group Discount available for 6 or more individuals from one organization (registration includes lunch and continental breakfast).

Each Conference Attendee will be able to attend 3 workshops (workshop descriptions and facilitators will be added as soon as confirmed).

Workshop Session 1

In 2011, the Hampton Roads Diversity & Inclusion Consortium (known formerly as the Regional Roundtable) was created to provide organizations with opportunities to share ideas, resources and lessons learned in our continued efforts to embrace diversity and build inclusive workplaces where diversity of thought and perspective becomes second nature and deeply ingrained in how we do business.

Keynote and Lunch Featured

Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, Mekbib Gemeda, will be the luncheon keynote speaker.

Mr. Gemeda oversees EVMS Diversity and Inclusion, which supports efforts to integrate diversity and inclusion as a strategic priority across the mission areas of education, patient care and research at EVMS. Its initiatives focus on supporting the integration of cultural competency and community health in the medical and health professions curriculum; developing and implementing programs to enhance diversity among students, residents, faculty and staff; and advancing community engagement and partnership.
